An enjoyable morning! Not only the weather did not interfere too much, but also the focus on artistic content and discussion about education was interesting and at times amusing.

Michael Wimmer's thougths about intercultural exchange and education arched through time and space: citing Goethes Wilhelm Meister (The best education is to be found while travelling) and connecting it to Fabrizio Gattis "Bilal - as an illegal alien on the way to Europe".

The younger visitors of the Matinee were very impressed by the jooloomooloos they found out about. Doron Rabinovici also managed quite some smiles on the faces of the older ones and made them think about the sensation of their clothing.

Cynthia Schwertsik and Laurent Ziegler realized talking to Sibylle Hamann that they learned a lot from the locals in South Africa and Sri Lanka, i.e. their zest for life and the ability to live in the moment. In order to achieve their projects they were challenged to deal with the need for some planning and organization in a way so that they also could meet the needs of the participants. Both agreed they wouldn't want to miss their time at the artists-in-residence. Despite reaching their limits at times their experience was very rich.

The 30 Sri Lanka photorgaphy students were present through their very diverse photographies that told a lot about the culture and nature in Sri Lanka. Our guest of honor Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Srimal Wickremasinghe of the embassy of Sri Lanka, accompanied by the Second Secretary Suranga Algewatte were quite impressed by the achievements of the young students. If enjoying the photos also included some nostalgia for them? We can only assume.

The Matinee wasn't designed for selling the photographies. Being aware of this we are especially happy that seven of the photographies found new owners! The proceeds, as always, will be used 100% by the PAINT FOR LIFE Foundation for our education projects.
